AT PRESENT SAMPURNA MONTFORT COLLEGE (SMC) is an institute for post-graduate studies for Masters and PhD and its curricula entail teaching, evaluation, therapy, counselling and research in different sub-disciplines of psychology. SMC has another campus with 17.5 acres of land at Thirumenahalli near Yelahanka.

This Institute works in affiliation/collaboration with various Psychological Studies Institutes and Centres in the world. Though not long established, SMC maintains a strong foundation in scholarship and research which adapts effectively to cultural diversity and the needs of the youth. Presently, SMC houses Montfort College (MC) -an affiliate of Bangalore University- and Sampurna Institute of Advanced Studies (SIAS) -a practice school of Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU), Meghalaya- within its structure.

The emphasis at Montfort is to respond creatively to meet the increasing demands of our evolving educational community and rapidly changing society. We believe that everyone has the potential to achieve one's goals; when provided with supportive environment. Our faculty embodies an extensive range of professional experience and cultural diversity and we introduce you to the concept of holistic personality development;( Welcome to a friendly ambience of scholarship and research!)

VISION & MISSION for SMC

A competent workforce of mental healthcare professionals is the key to many personal and inter-personal problems we experience today. SMC visualizes training psychologists and counsellors with personal integration and professional competence. Through them, we want to provide contextually relevant, socially inclusive and acceptable mental healthcare support to all in need.

This Institute is committed to excellence in both research and teaching and strives to provide a liberal environment where staff and students are encouraged to achieve their full potential. We aim for advancement of learning and understanding; in the service of society. The broad vision for SMC is expressed in its logo "Liberation with Enlightenment".

Holistic Approach:

Integration is a process of being enjoying, emotional, mental and spiritual "Well-being", as well as understanding the purpose of life, realizing who one is, and what one's contribution to community and life is. Every one has the potential and skills to discover oneself. One needs to become aware of one's growth and of other's as well, thus leading to the enjoyment of the fullness of life.

The Upanishads say that if one possesses both "Vyavahara" (temporal knowledge) and "Paramarthika" (spiritual knowledge), one can remain happy, and come out of the mire of delusion, and be liberated. The ancients emphasized the necessity of holistic health that is the well-being of the whole person, and community. Becoming aware of one's own physical, emotional, and spiritual conditions facilitates the understanding and growth of life. Those who understand and practice the art of living and being, relish spiritual and holistic gifts of life.
